Eligibility Requirements:

You are eligible to purchase Visitors insurance for coverage if:

  • 1. You know of no reason for which you may seek medical attention.
  • 2. You are:
  • a) A foreign worker, or a visitor to Canada with valid legal status in Canada; or,
  • b) An immigrant awaiting provincial or territorial government health care coverage; or,
  • c) A returning Canadian not eligible for a provincial or territorial government health care plan due to an extended leave.
  • 3. The expenses you incur result from an acute, sudden and unexpected emergency.
  • 4. You are not travelling against a physician’s advice; or,
  • 5. You have not been diagnosed with a terminal condition.

Pre-existing Conditions Coverage:

 Pre-existing Medical Conditions are only covered as following for

Traveller Visitors Plan:

a) For insureds who are 59 years and under on the application date, if stable in the 120 days before the effective date or the arrival date in Canada, whichever occurs later

b) For insureds who are 60 to 69 years on the application date. stable in the 180 days before the effective date or the arrival date in Canada, whichever occurs later,

c) For insureds who are 70 years and over on the application date, No coverage for Any pre-existing conditions

Platinum Visitors Plan:

a) for persons 69 years and under, if stable in the 120 days prior to the effective date of this Policy; or,
b) for persons 70 to 79 years, if stable in the 120 days prior to the effective date of this Policy and the applicable optional coverage was purchased.

Waiting Period for sickness:

a)  48 hours from the effective date of this Policy, if this Policy was purchased within 60 days of your arrival date in Canada; or,
b) within the first seven (7) days from the effective date of this Policy, if this Policy was purchased 61 days or more after your arrival date in Canada


REFUNDS For Travellers Plan

  1. Refunds are not available if a claim has been or will be submitted.
  2. When no travel has taken place and the request for refund is received PRIOR to the effective date of the Policy, a full refund is available.
  3. When no travel has taken place and the request for refund is received AFTER the effective date of the Policy:
  4. a) A full refund is available within 10 days of the application date; or,
  5. b) A refund less an administration fee is available when the request for refund is received more than 10 days after the application date but no later than one year from the expiry date of the Policy.
  6. c) Refunds must be requested in writing.
  7. A partial refund is available if:
  8. a) You return to your country of permanent residence; or,
  9. b) You become eligible and/or covered under a provincial or territorial government health care plan during the period of coverage.
  10. c) A satisfactory proof of return to your country of permanent residence or proof of the date you became eligible and/or covered under a provincial or territorial government health care plan, is sent to TuGo.
  11. d) Refunds must be requested in writing. All refund requests must be received by TuGo no later than one year from the date you became eligible and/or covered under a provincial or territorial government health care plan. Refunds will be calculated from the date you return to your country of permanent residence or the date you become eligible and/or covered under a provincial or territorial government health care plan. All partial refunds will be subject to an administration fee.
  12. Applicable to 365-day Policies with a sum insured of $100,000 or more (Super Visa Policies):
  13. a) A refund is available, subject to a $250 cancellation fee, provided no travel has taken place. For cancellation after the effective date of the Policy, the request must be received no later than one year from the expiry date of the Policy; or,
  14. b) If a Super Visa application was denied, a full refund is available prior to the effective date of the Policy, or a refund less an administration fee is available after the effective date of the Policy, provided the request is received no later than one year from the expiry date of the Policy. Supporting documentation must be sent to TuGo.
  15. c) Refunds must be requested in writing.

Note: If your Super Visa application is delayed, please contact your designated representative prior to your Policy effective date to change the coverage dates of your Policy

Refunds for Platinum Visitors Plan

  1. Refunds are not available if a claim has been or will be submitted.
  2. When no travel has taken place and the request for refund is received PRIOR to the effective date of the Policy, a full refund is available.
  3. When no travel has taken place and the request for refund is received AFTER the effective date of the Policy:
  4. a) A full refund is available within 10 days of the application date; or,
  5. b) A refund less an administration fee is available when the request for refund is received more than 10 days after the application date but no later than 30 days after the effective date and prior to the expiry date of the Policy.
  6. c) Refunds must be requested in writing.
  7. A partial refund is available if:
  8. a) You return to your country of permanent residence and a minimum term of 45 days remains unused on the Policy; or,
  9. b) You become eligible and/or covered under a provincial or territorial government health care plan during the period of coverage.
  10. c) A satisfactory proof of return to country of permanent residence or proof of the date you became eligible and/or covered under a provincial or territorial government health care plan, is sent to TuGo.
  11. d) Refunds must be requested in writing.

All refund requests must be received by TuGo no later than 30 days from the date you became eligible and/or covered under a provincial or territorial government health care plan.

Refunds will be calculated from the date you return to your country of permanent residence or the date you become eligible and/or covered under a provincial or territorial government health care plan. All partial refunds will be subject to an administration fee.

Step 1: You can also Register the claim online:

Claims at TuGo opens a claim file and assigns a claim number to each client. Clients may choose a password to access the Claims at TuGo online claim services centre, where they can track the progress of their claim and download any needed forms.

Step 2: Fill out and return claim forms:

Your clients must fill out and return all claim form(s) sent to them by Claims at TuGo. They may receive more than one form to complete, depending on their home province or territory and the type of insurance being claimed. Clients may also download and print forms from Claims at TuGo's online claim services centre.

Step 3: Provide additional documentation:

Your clients must send Claims at TuGo all additional information they ask for, such as original, itemized bills for related expenses. This is so that Claims at TuGo can complete processing of the claim, and verify that it is in line with the terms and conditions of the clients' purchased policy.

Clients may track the progress of their claim through Claims at TuGo's online claim services centre, or contact claims assistance at any time.

What if the claim is not payable?

Claims at TuGo will inform clients in writing if their claim is not eligible for payment, including an explanation for their decision. Clients may contact Claims at TUGO to appeal an ineligible claim.
